Hello! Welcome to the Norton Infant School Website.
My name is Julie Joy and I have been Headteacher since January 2000, Before that I was Deputy Headteacher here for seven years. I taught in Newcastle upon Tyne, York and Selby before moving to teach in Doncaster.
Norton Infant School has a 52 place Nursery providing 26 part time places every morning and afternoon. There is one full time teacher and one Nursery Teaching Assistant working with her.
There are currently 170 children in the main school building, where we have six classes from Reception to Year 2.
Every classroom has a part-time Teaching Assistant and there are full time Teaching Assistants in the Reception Classes.
We welcome parents and volunteer helpers in school and have very supportive parents who contribute to and take part in enjoyable fund raising activities.
We pride ourselves on being an open, welcoming and happy school, which continually strives to achieve high standards in all areas of the curriculum and where pupils are given opportunities to develop their independence and confidence.
The most recent OfSTED Inspection in May 2007 describes us as "an outstanding school that offers excellent value for money. Parents and carers are thrilled with their children's progress, that they enjoy school so much and feel safe and secure.
Pupils achieve particularly well because teaching and learning has a ceaseless focus on achievement.
As a consequence of exceptional teamwork, an excellent curriculum and high quality care and guidance, personal development and well being are outstanding".
In the Annual report 2007/08 the Chief Inspector of schools, identified our school as one of a number of particularly successful schools who had received an outstanding inspection report.
The school also holds the folllowing
Inclusion Chartermark (2008)
Active Mark (2008)
Healthy School (Phase 2) (2007)
You will find much more information about us in our prospectus but please ring to make an appointment if you would like to visit, meet us and look around our lovely school.
