Year 5's Trip to Elland Road
Year 5 have recently been to visit Elland Road in Leeds as part of their
literacy topic. They went hoping to find some fabulous inspiration for writing.
Here's how the got on...

When they arrived, they toured the site and got to look in the trophy room etc!

They then went into the changing rooms and met John McClelland.

John is an ex-Leeds and Northern Ireland international and has even
played in two World Cups!!
Next, the children completed some work on newspaper headlines and took
part in an interactive quiz.
One of the best parts of the day was being allowed to go to the pitch and
into off-limits areas such as the T.V box. Apparently, this was VERY VERY
high up and a little scary!!

The day was a great success and the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves...
Quote: "best trip ever...nearly as good as Filey!"

Following their trip, the children wrote some fantastic pieces of descriptive
writing.
They imagined they were in the players tunnel, waiting to
enter the stadium before a big match and included lots of brilliant
detail and description.
