In English we will be: 

  • Reading and writing adventure stories, focusing on story openings and character development.
  • Comparing and contrasting works by the same author.
  • Reading and writing humorous poems focusing how language play can create humour.
  • Reading and writing letters.
  • Reading and writing information texts.
  • Writing dialogue and simple playscripts.

 

In mathematics we will concentrate on:

  • Multiplying and dividing (including remainders) and recall of multiplication and division facts for 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10 times tables.
  • Understanding + and -.
  • Solving word problems and number puzzles.
  • Reading time.
  • Comparing fractions.
  • Developing understanding of shape.

 

In Science we will be learning about:-

ROCKS AND SOILS

  • Naming and giving characteristics of rocks, recognising that rocks are used for different purposes and learning that soils come from rocks.

MAGNETS AND SPRINGS

  • recognising and describing the direction of forces between magnets and springs.  (Both will include planning and carrying out fair tests).

In Art and/or Technology we will be:

Art

  • Exploring a range of artistic techniques by carrying out a range of activities linked to other subjects. (This term - Geography and seasons in Wetherby)

 

DT

  • Investigating and making nets of packaging and assembling a package for a small Easter egg.

 

In other subjects we will be learning about:

  • Our local area of Wetherby (Geography) and what it was like to live here in the past including studying how the local area has changed (History).
  • How to use music software to develop and refine musical compositions (ICT)
  • Jesus and the Bible (RE)
  • Feelings, loss and separation (PSHE)

 

You can help me by:

  • Reading with me every day
  • Helping me to learn my spellings.
  • Helping me to remember how to spell high frequency words.
  • Encouraging me to use neat, joined handwriting.
  • Helping me with my homework each week.
  • Practising my 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10 times tables with me.
  • Helping me to remember number bonds.

Special days for my class are:

  • PE - Fridays and for the first half term Mondays, for the second half term Thursdays. (Please ensure correct PE kit and no ear-rings.
  • Library - Every other Monday.
  • Homework - returned Monday.
  • Spelling Tests - Thursdays
  • Chaning reading books - Mondays and Thursdays (books can be changed more often than this).

 

Other special days or events this term are:

Historical walk around Wetherby - to be arranged.
