1954
At St Anthony’s it is our mission to provide a high
quality education, in a Catholic Gospel-centred community, valuing the dignity
of the individual and actively promoting inclusive education for all learners.
We
will strive for excellence in all we do.
50 years ago the parishioners of St Anthony’s Clayton realised their
dream of Catholic education for their children .
The school was opened on 27th April 1954 with 102 children on roll.
Sister Raphael was the Headteacher for 29 years.
St Anthony’s in 2005 has 233 children from the ages
of 3-11. Mrs Barbara Ford has been Headteacher for 17 years,
following Mr. Brian Rowe in 1988.
St Anthony’s had an excellent
OFSTED inspection in 2001 and was
praised by HMI as an outstanding school.
The whole staff (who won IIP award) are a team dedicated to providing
high quality education for all our children, whilst living through gospel
values.
The Governors carry out their strategic role with rigour and
support, and parents are keen to work together to provide the best life
chances for the children.
The children are fantastic ambassadors for St Anthony’s;
strangers often comment on their excellent behaviour &
achievement out - of - school.
Fr Mauricer is our spiritual mentor and dearly loved by
all.

Our 50th Celebration Week in school
During the week of our 50th Celebrations
the children enjoyed a variety of activities.
Firstly we had a dance group in to school for a couple of days,
called 'Dare to Dance', followed by Dave Watson a percussionist.
On Thursday 20th April, all the staff dressed in 1950's style clothing and
served the pupils lunch.
The final day of the week all the children 'dressed down' in 'gold'
clothing for the day. Throughtout the week the all the children in
school placed a few mosaic pieces onto our 50th Anniversary mosaic
which was designed by children in Key Stage 1.
On Wednesday 5th May, 2004 Bishop Arthur Roache came to St. Anthony's School,
for a
celebration mass, in which he blessed our new school statue, which was very
kindly donated by
St. Anthony's Church. Afterwards he had a brief tour of the school and spoke
to all the classes.
